The Oblivion is a Friends Seminary student run publication. In words and images, The Oblivion aims to document and interpret the various experiences, opinions, and interests of the Friends Seminary student body in a timely manner. To increase the chances of publication, contributors should—as far in advance of the submission deadline as possible—send a very brief proposal describing the topic and the form of the piece they envision to the appropriate editors via First Class. Submissions that have not been preceded by a proposal may still be published if they happen to suit the needs of a given issue. If you are interested in contributing to The Oblivion but do not know what to write about, email the newspaper’s editors and we will help you find a topic.
Because column space is limited, and because The Oblivion must serve its readers as well as its contributors, not all submissions will be published. The editors may reject submissions for reasons of timeliness or quality. Whenever possible, we will ask for revisions before rejecting a submission outright. In such cases, publication of the submission will be delayed until the necessary revisions have been made.
The Oblivion publishes four or five issues a year. If you would like to write for either The Oblivion or The Oblivion’s website, please contact the appropriate editor(s).
